Never got round to listening to Gentle Giant. What would you recommend for a first dip?
Was chatting to Stan about this cos my stepdad keeps banging on about them. He's a big fan. I've yet to listen to them though

It's difficult to say, because even though I think they made 6 great albums in a row (the ones mentioned above), bookended by 2 good ones (the debut and Interview), they're a very difficult band to get into and you have to pretty much find your own way in. Their music can be quite dense and have a lot going on. Free Hand would be a decent starting point, I think... one of their more easier listens. I got into them through Acquiring the Taste, which turned out to be one of their more difficult ones!

Just listened to Free Hand and Acquiring the taste twice and like both a lot thanks. Have, also, given Octopus and Three Friends a listen each and enjoyed those as well. Will definitely check out the others sometime.

Saw the Black Keys in Brixton last night - WOW! Amazing.
The new album is great, best in years.

The noise from the crowd was incredible.

Highly recommended

Great album, although I probably listen to Gentlemen Take Polaroids more... if only by a hair! Love Mick Karn's bass playing throughout Tin Drum, particularly on "Still Life In Mobile Homes"
