Sisters Of Mercy

Post by jetblacksdad »

Anyone else a fan or have affection

I was fine with them up to and including Floodland.
That Tony James stuff was forgettable.....

I had a look round YouTube because they dont release anything new these days do they?

My God! They are terrible now. Eldritch cannot sing any more. He looks awful and the band is a couple of fellas posing on guitars like they're Bon Fucking Jovi! None of the early goth cool.

Really very very sad.

Shame

First saw them at York Racecourse back in the 80’s - there’s footage up on YouTube -

Saw them in Leeds a few times too. I really liked the first few albums, I also became a bit of a fan of The Mission too around ‘85-‘90. I think they were better than The Sisters and I really liked some of Wayne Hussey’s songwriting.
But totally agree The Sisters today are absolutely shocking, Eldritch just growls and leaves the singing to one of the guitar players. A total shitshow, they’ve always had no drummer and now no bass player and now no Eldritch it seems, just awful.

First saw them on the Black October tour at the QMU, then Strathclyde Uni before the first album came out, which is still one of the best gigs l ever saw. Got all the original 12" up til then, great first album and thought Floodlands was OK. Lost interest after that, and as Arfur says, The Mish were a no bad band, for me, up til the first album, saw them a load of times up til then. Its cool to still see Craig playing bass for SOD etc, but agreed, the Sisters now are a no tune, no song, no band fucken mess these days, and probly have been for a long while. And Eldritch went from being the coolest long coat, long hair, black hat, gloved and shaded dude with a great voice, atmospheric songs and stage presence into Harry fucken Hill.
