Mani (Stone Roses) RIP
Now reading press reports that the Roses' bassist Mani has passed away. The rhythm section of him and Reni were easily my favourite thing about that band.
RIP.
RIP.

Shocked
I remember him telling an anecdote about whenever he ran into Peter Hook, Hooky would always ask him, "Awlright Mani, How's the second greatest bass player in Manchester doing?"
And Mani would always reply, "l don't know Hooky, how are you doing?"
RIP Mani, an inventive and tuneful bass player, and seemed a cool, laid back n funny guy.

Re: Mani (Stone Roses) RIP
I had seen two interviews with him recently including Rockonteurs I think he'd been planning a speaking tour.
I saw the Roses six times including Heaton Park 2012 they were all fans of punk and I remember Mani naming Crass as his favourite band in the programme and one of the others mentioning the Stranglers as his first gig Apollo 1977.
This has been a terrible year for music deaths but I guess it will be every year now as all our heroes are old or very old.

Re: Mani (Stone Roses) RIP
Gutted. He very nearly took my head off bounding through a door at a Puressence gig in London. "Sorry mate, yeah" and off he went, a big bag of energy. I just stood there open mouthed!
He lost his wife a couple of years back and has 12 year old twins which is just horrendous. Poor kids.
I'd seen the spoken word tour and was very keen to go, alas we shall not get to hear what he has to say.
RIP Mani. Legend is an over used word but I think it applies firmly to you!

I don't know much Stone Roses stuff, but he's featuring quite a lot in the "Greatest Bass Lines" series that's been showing on Sky Arts. He was appearing somewhere locally.
