All I know about Big Country is that I saw them supporting the MIB at Reading in 83. Surprisingly good...

And after that you weren't tempted to check out their albums? That said they never really got that live energy across on record. The Crossing asidePalais23 wrote:All I know about Big Country is that I saw them supporting the MIB at Reading in 83. Surprisingly good...

Exactly. The songs were much better live. Plus they were considered a pop band in the sixth form. I used to like some of the Skids songs mind you. Very new wave sing along - Scots version of Ten Pole Tudor - sorry that's a bit disparaging to Adamson and Jobson.

Yeah Skids were a lot better than that but the comparison made me laugh.Palais23 wrote: 21 Jul 2023, 22:00 Exactly. The songs were much better live. Big Country were awesome. I didn't really stick with them as they changed. I did see them with Mike Peters and Derek Forbes and they were still awesome. Surprisingly to me Derek Forbes nailed the bass parts. I know he's no slouch but he did a great job.

Re: Big Country
Big Country just played at Rockore this year, a festival at Lochore in Fife, with the Boomtown Rats headlining.
Hugh played at it last year.
