What would like to hear from the big 50

Post by oliverj1999 »

So obviously it's the big 50 next year and we will all be hoping for a hits tour and probably will be seeing some rarities played
What would you like to see played on the gigs?
Would love to see JJ have a crack at Choosey Susie. Just like nothing on earth would be a nice touch also

It's going to be a Greatest Hits set - without a doubt

It’d be great if they let us all vote for what songs we all want to hear.
(Nobody vote for Golden Brown / Always The Sun ffs)

Agreed..this really needs not to be your usual hits tour but with a different looking 50th year stuck on the tour poster.
I'd really change it with some major surprises in store like Hugh has done,i'd start a 50th from the beginning 74-75 then some of the big gun songs i'd have a set list something like this..
Waltz
Wasted
The Raven
Shah
Time To die
Make you mine
Everybody Loves You When Your dead
Two to Tango
Nice In Nice
Dreamtime
Strange little girl
Too Precious
Tank
Toiler
5 minutes
Dave song
My Young Dreams
Let me introduce you to the family
Just like nothing on earth
Who wants the world
Nuclear Device
Go Buddy go

Encore

Hallow
Genetix
Heroes
Sewer

A set list that's different.

If it's going to be a genuine celebration of 50 years then the set ought to include something from every album, without cherry picking.Who takes on the likes of Valley of the Birds,Face and Coupe de Grace,is another debate. The period of 1991-2006 shouldn't be ignored. They can't airbrush out a 16 year period from the 50 years history.

Who knows what their set list would consist of and i suppose like you say a track from each album would be a genuine celebration of 50 years of formation, but somehow i can't see them doing that it will be more of a hits with a few new changes going by past records of doing things.
But i'd like to think it would be a bit different and special to mark a one off celebration of the birth of the Stranglers, mind you what track would they do off coup? and WIR? off WIR i'd have Here for sure or In heaven she walks but i cannot imagine anybody taking on those great Paul sung songs.
So no i can't imagine a 50th track by album tour...but hey never say never lol

In fact i think it was Stan who was saying just how good "Waiting for the Men in Black " is and yes Stan your right how good would that track be done live again ?
I always forget about that track that would be a great track live after Waltz....fantastic recording!

I wouldn't vote for GB even if I was allowed that choice, I can probably think of easily over 100 Stranglers songs I would rather hear , even one or two on Giants 😁😁.
