50th anniversary
So no UK gigs until the big one next year.
Bit shit seeing as their biggest fan base is here and not getting any younger.

Agreed but they already announced before Dave passed they were taking it easier, less tours and no long tours.

Re: 50th anniversary
What a tour that will be !!! the 50th.
Just an amazing milestone,i hope they do something really special like they did with the big in lights year countdown on the ruby tour, what a start and entrance to a gig as it was on that tour, one of the best coming down in the lift boxes then bang... a Toiler start!
I can't begin to imagine how they could top that one...How will they open a 50th gig...The mind boggles!

Then I got tired of counting all of these blessings, and then I just got tired.

Re: 50th anniversary
Surprised they bothered to continue beyond Dave tbh. That said I do think they should mark the 50th occasion somehow.

Could they do RAH again do you think? Would they sell it out as a one off? Probably too late anyway but would be a nice event.

Seems they've painted themselves into a corner with that final full tour thing.Maybe they will do two legs,11 dates in Spring and 11 in Autumn.
Without wishing to go all 'Stan',50 years of the Stranglers is a bit like Trigger's broom.

Killing Joke have sold out the RAH, so it's possible.jetblacksdad wrote: ↑20 Jan 2023, 10:43 Could they do RAH again do you think? Would they sell it out as a one off? Probably too late anyway but would be a nice event.
However..KJ are playing their first two albums with the original line up!
If the Stranglers were to do something like that with the current line up I personally wouldn't go...unless Hugh was to make a guest appearance! Complete fantasy of course!
Re: 50th anniversary
It's a Double edged Sword, for any band it's an achievement to last 50 years but when that band is so far removed from what made them a unique band,it's slightly soiled if you know what I mean,I know things change but I feel they really should call it a day now.Thats my opinion and if they do dates next year and I'm sure they will milk it for all it's worth, but it's a business at the end of the day,so squeeze the Stranglers Lemon when you can.Capt Kudu as I got promotion this Tuesday in London.
