Re: Songs you'd like to hear return
It might be a case that if Hugh dosen't tour again the only we way anyone will hear the Stranglers songs will be themselves...i for one will be gutted if Hugh does call time but if he does i can fully understand it after touring his whole adult life and there a signs creeping in with the guitaring so i could fully understand it if he does and it won't be the same again without him up on stage with his tele but i'm just so glad i got to see and hear him for this long in my life and appreciate and cherish those great gigs he gave if he does and let's hope he does a tour or two more or even just a few random ones, but i will be hoping in time for just a little more new material if we can get that from him that would be excellent too because after this excellent album from him he still has so much more of that god given talent of his to give for sure.

Think how i felt seeing him at the Ally Pally not knowing that not only would that be the last time i saw him in MK1 but the last time ...He was in MK1!
Never have really got over that fact.

I don't remember School Mam ever being played live.
I was at the last tour with Hugh, Edinburgh Playhouse I think.
Very strange seeing the Stranglers with an extra guitarist on stage.
I was shocked to hear soon after that Hugh left, and shocked again when I heard they were carrying on.

Well yes to all the above that you have said...i think the most thought well that would be the end post Hugh i mean how could they carry on without Hugh the distinctive frontman who was the voice and face of the successful band for 16 years realistically and i was even more shocked in the frontman they did choose who couldn't be any further away from what was previous maybe that's exactly what they wanted it to be like after Hugh, for me it wasn't right at all then and now and as much as i like Paul the great singer i think his appointment was never right for this bands type of new wave music especially with his vocal range and tones to their typical written styled music... the two for me only was a mismatch but to be fair over his long time in the band he did record some great songs with them as a Strangler that i liked and still like very much.kenl wrote: ↑26 Dec 2022, 22:20 I don't remember School Mam ever being played live.

Great set list. Weird that they ended with P&J.
Walk on By was sublime that night.
