In terms of facts - how many units did it shift?

On the physical chart. In 2021 this is not the chart that counts.
I'm only stating a fact.

You're stating an opinion.

Not enough to pay for anyone's retirement. Wasn't it about 10k?

I reckon you're probably right there. There's probably around 10k Stranglers fans who went out and bought it.

Yeah agreed. Going back to my original point zero publicity - no radio play. So no point releasing another single.

Nah, they all pre-ordered it. Once all the pre-orders were fulfilled and accounted for, hardly anyone else bought it.

Yes, in a chart that's not truly reflective of what people are listening to in 2021.

Yes, that's what it sold to get to the high chart position in the first week. Subsequent weeks it was way down the numbers, maybe it got to 15k.

Of course they wouldn't play it, because it's awful. I'm still laughing my tits off at the first time I heard the "NOBODY MOVES! NOBODY GETS HURT!" section all this time later.
This will crack you up even more then, the UK Subs, who I have always found to be one of THE most overrated “punk” bands had a song in the 1990s using almost the exact same lyrics as the chorus. So it’s anything but original. I only knew this because of some terrible cheap punk compilation I picked up all those years ago. I’d say the stranglers use is marginally better, but it is a corny statement I concur.
