Yet it was nowhere to be seen in the streaming chart, which is how the majority of people consume music in 2021.
It depends on the age group of the people buying the records. I read this on the Official Charts website about Abba who age group wise would have a similar range to the Stranglers.
“Voyage’s total is made up of 90% physical copies, including 29,900 on vinyl, which makes it the fastest-selling vinyl release of the century, overtaking the 24,500 first-week vinyl sales of Arctic Monkeys’ Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino in 2018.”
I admit The Charts don’t mean the same these days and are largely influenced by streaming figures. I always think that these are in no way as reflective of the record buying public as the old physical sales were. I wonder how many sales some modern day artists would have if people had to physically get off their backsides and go to the shop and buy it.
However when all is said and done the record books will still always show the Stranglers had a number 4 album.

That's because this is Stranglers' Site that supports the Band or had you conveniently forgotten that Fact??...again.

Well the Official Site pushed it more on FB and Twitter but we all did our Bit in the End to get the High Chart placing.
But you're correct in saying nobody is interested in the Charts now that The Stranglers have disappeared from them.

Hasn't that been the case for ages though? . I was the same in the 80's , not interested until someone like The Stranglers , Killing Joke , The Exploited , Dead Kennedy's or those sorts were there and a possibility of a TOTP appearance , fuck me The Exploited got one once and did it annoy Mr and Mrs Average.......I loved it , other than that though it really has no relevance.

I watched that Exploited Performance of Dead Cities the other Day and I remember it clearly as my Brother was into them.
Forgive me for being naïve, but I still think of the charts as being TOTP on a Thursday night. So the recognised charts by for example, the music business itself will refer to is:
Or will they only look at streaming figures on Spotify, Apple Music, Google and Amazon etc.. and not refer to https://www.officialcharts.com
TIA.
Well i'm old brigade and yes for me the TOTP's charts was the godfather of charts along with radio 1's top 40 on a Sunday afternoon....The good old days!
