Punk77 Baz Warne 'Dark Matters' Interview

Post by Punk77 »

Hi there

It's Paul from Punk77 who runs www.punk77.co.uk. I've been away from the site for a number of years but have it back and running.

I interviewed Baz on Monday this week and have put the interview up on line. As the boys a re doing the promotional rounds I suspect there will be some duplication across interviews but hopefully I'll have something in there fresh. It's a review and interview.

Here's the guff
Punk 77 Interview with Baz Warne from the Stranglers about their new album Dark Matters covering recording, the life of the songs, getting older, who will be the new keyboardist on tour, what Jet thinks of the album and of course the death of Dave Greenfield. Also includes a review of the album which is a mighty 9/10 and no it doesn't sound like Rattus Norvegicus and no they're not going to bring back any past members and ....yawn

Fantastic interview. Thanks.

Nice to hear that Jet loves the new album and is all over social media.

I wonder if he pops in here now and again?

He's probably got an an account and laughs his head off at our inconsequential babbling

Along with taking names and putting them on a kill list.....

Nice interview. Very open and honest

Delighted to see that they forget tunes they have written when pissed. I too am a big fan of record everything and play it back later. That is if you donlt drown yer phone whilst hammered!

Also pleased (?) to see that Baz acknowledged that Giants was a bit weak in places.
That takes some honesty and guts.

Baz wrote:Giants was a little weak and patchy in places
It's great that Baz admits this, although I still feel he's being somewhat charitable towards the record.
Baz wrote:we're a business and this is our livelihood
Equally great that Baz is so upfront about this and it tells me all I need to know (as if I hadn't guessed already) about their intentions regarding the band, particularly coupled with the fact that they've spent most of the last 10 years touring and keeping on truckin' even when key members of the band have fallen by the wayside.

It's about as clever a play on words as "bisted and Twitter", i.e. not very.
Baz wrote:you don't sell out two Brixton Academy’s if you're a tribute band
You do if your tribute band has exactly the same name as the band you're tributing.
Baz wrote:We're not Dr Feelgood (they have no original members in the band now)
Correct. However, there's something else that the current line-up isn't either.

Shock horror, Stan’s trolling again
