I finally got this cd to listen to in the car. Its a great album especially the first five or six tracks. They've mellowed a lot but they are still creating great music.

Still a highlight for me. Still revisiting this and possibly my fave 2021 album release

I haven't listened to it for a while but still it's better than Dark Matters.

This album is not a Manics highlight for you is it? Image

I wouldn't put it ahead of some other post-Everything Must Go records e.g. Journal for Plague Lovers, Lifeblood or Futurology, but I like it plenty. They've found yet another aspect of their sound to explore and written some decent songs. My main criticism with The Ultra Vivd Lament is that I wish it sounded better - there's a muffly feel to the final product which I'm not too enamoured with.
