Re: dark matters chart chances
Not too bothered about the chart placings but would be nice to see The Stranglers do as well as the other older bands lately. E.g. Sparks. They've taken a good stab at the marketing for it imo

Still not getting any airplay is it?

From the Oficial Chart Update:
"Punk rock legends The Stranglers are in at Number 3 with Dark Matters, their first album in nine years. The set, their first since the retirement of drummer Jet Black and death of keyboardist Dave Greenfield, is on track to be their highest-charting album in 43 years since 1978’s Black & White."

Re: dark matters chart chances
Remember this is only the midweek chart though, the campaign still needs to be sustained for the rest of the week. Hopefully people will discover it and buy the other formats or stream it or something...
If only the Manics hadn't delayed for a week, and who the bloody hell thought a new Steps album was needed...
Still, top 3 in the midweek is fantastic, highest album chart position since 1978 if they can sustain until Friday.

What brilliant news. Even if they can remain in the 10 by end of the week would be great for them.

Highest chart position since 1978?
I need to let that sink in.
Highest. Chart. Position. Since.1978.
If its the case, well done the Stranglers!

What an insult the dire Steps above them, who the fuck likes that shit? But it's great for The Stranglers to be that high for any time. So chuffed for the boys. Lt Kudu.

No.3, their best chart position since B&W! wow that’s great news. Well done to the band, management etc and to all who bought the album.
Would be great though if they had their first no.1 but I’ve a feeling the Manics will keep em off the top slot or the greatest punk/ new wave band ever - Steps will take that top slot.

Shush this is serious

For perspective on midweeks.... Toyah's Posh Pop was 9 at midweek I think... then on the weekly chart it settled at 22.
That's not a bad album actually. Some tasteful guitar work from Robert Fripp.
