And if you you want to hear the Stranglers regularly on the radio try Coma FM, they play them everyday and lots of mark two album tracks as well as the new stuff!

Another irritation this morning - the Boomtown Rats have a new EP out, and managed to get "Sir Bob" on the Radio 2 breakfast show to talk about it, and a couple of weeks ago I heard that Billy Idol was on R2 on Saturday morning, presumably with something to plug. So how come these two manage to get on, and yet the Stranglers have been nowhere near? Both had similar profiles at the time, perhaps a bit smaller than the Stranglers (especially Generation X / Billy Idol) and yet here they are getting the radio play. OK, so Bob got his name everywhere for Live Aid, but that was ages ago.

Even though it's past tense Geldof has a huge media profile compared to The Stranglers and he's exactly the kind of champagne socialist the BBC adore - he might even say something 'controversial' about the government!droopsnoot wrote: ↑11 Oct 2021, 08:50 Another irritation this morning - the Boomtown Rats have a new EP out, and managed to get "Sir Bob" on the Radio 2 breakfast show to talk about it, and a couple of weeks ago I heard that Billy Idol was on R2 on Saturday morning, presumably with something to plug. As for Sir William of Idol, again he's still a memory in the heads of the over 40s for his 'Merican Rebel Rock...but whether that trumps that band who did Golden Brown and Always The Sun is debatable....

He was edging towards a bit of Brexit stuff, and was rude about Liam Payne. The song was rubbish though - if it had been a different presenter I might have expected them to ask "so Bob, did you have much trouble writing the lyrics?" as it seemed to just be him shouting "and I do" over and over again. Maybe the bit they couldn't play on breakfast radio is better.

I don't dislike Bob but can do without his latter day preaching whereas his colossal effort for the famine is without question a noble achievement.
Don't rate his music either apart from a few perky Rats moments.
