Yeah, I wasn’t aware of Bowie (RIP) ever really crossing a line, unless one is very passionate about Scottish Independence, I always respected Bowie’s consistency in turning down a Knighthood, whereas Lydon, (don’t even get me started on that gammon) would bend over backwards to get a Knighthood I’m sureWaffle waitress wrote: 03 Jan 2026, 13:50

Totally fair enough, if I was a citizen of Scotland I’d vote for Independence, the English have been ripping them off for Centuries. Mind you I think *some* Independence supporters went a too far with their comments when Bowie died. I wish Bowie had kept out of the Independence debate personally, didn’t he do it through Kate Miss if memory serves? I can’t help wishing Bowie had been around to say what he thought of Trump and Brexit, as I doubt he would have been favourable towards either…Waffle waitress wrote: 03 Jan 2026, 16:59

Tommy Robinson?Jake wrote: 03 Jan 2026, 12:17 I lost all respect for him when he started fawning over Tommy Robinson and For Britain, far right bullshit, do you really wanna go there?
TRB, The Tommy Robinson Band?
Seriously though I was only aware of the Union Jack waving thing he did back in the 90’s which seemed to upset the music press at the time for some reason and also the comments he made about the Chinese.
I try to avoid politics and especially politics concerning musicians. Im not really interested in their views at all and I wish they would just shut the fuck up, its always been about the music for me.
Its a shame you and other people stop following their fave artists because ones political views don’t align anymore.

Well, it’s not really worth an in depth analysis, people have differing views and that’s ok, so long as no one starts threatening and intimidating each other, I guess.
Morrissey seems to get through musicians like he does fans, even Boz Boorer no longer performs with him as I understand. Alain Whyte was his man for the tunes for a long time and he lost a good collaborator there.
Slightly related, I’ve seen a few vids of Johnny Marr performing Smiths numbers recently, and why not, he was the key to The Smiths, I don’t know if Morrissey would have seriously made it anywhere without him. I quite liked his renditions, and he clearly has head far less up his own backside than Mozza these days, oh well it is what is…

Re: Morrissey
Aztec Camera were doing the Marr jangle before he was, so it's not like it's his own unique sound - The Smiths would've got nowhere individually, it was the perfect union of Moz and Marr that bred their success.

I have never really listened to AT, so can’t comment, but I take your word for it.VladandOlga wrote: 10 Jan 2026, 16:05Aztec Camera were doing the Marr jangle before he was, so it's not like it's his own unique sound - The Smiths would've got nowhere individually, it was the perfect union of Moz and Marr that bred their success.
That’s a fair assessment though….
