Grave Disorder - The Damned
Grave Disorder by The Damned is a rather splendid quintisentially British album (rather like XTC's always were) with interesting lyrics coupled with some of their best psychedelic pop punk melodies. Captain's guitar soars, dips, sparkles and 'Wah Wah's it's way through every quality song. Dave Vanian's vocals on Thrill Kill (spoken word & sung choruses) is uniquely vampiric... All in a TOP album for me personally, It's not STRAWBERRIES or the BLACK ALBUM of years gone by BUT it is a Damned fine effort. Anyone else on this fine Forum think it's a tasty morsel of melodies?

Yep, one of the best Damned albums imo, at least top five. Sounds punchy and modern with a great range of styles and humour. The only downside is I got it for Christmas in 2001 and I was ill so it usually reminds me of lying in bed all day with a big jumper on feeling sorry for myself haha.

It's one of the best and sounds like a follow up to 'Strawberries' as if they'd just ignored everything else between 1982 and 2000.

Up there with the best.
'Would You Be So Hot If You Weren't Dead' is one of The Damneds finest moments IMHO.

Agreed, a fine tune (about Lennon) and interestingly the song 'Neverland' I guess from its lyrics is about M. Jackson?ThruBeingCool wrote:Up there with the best.

Yet another Damned album track that had been previously recorded by Captain Sensible as a solo track.Burn e 77 wrote:Agreed, a fine tune (about Lennon) and interestingly the song 'Neverland' I guess from its lyrics is about M. Jackson?ThruBeingCool wrote:Up there with the best.

Just a shame that recent shows haven't had anything from GD played.

Agreed. But as Captain has stated that they'll be playing a 3 hour set with songs from all eras at the RAH I'm hopeful.gizzard wrote:Just a shame that recent shows haven't had anything from GD played.
But I bet they don't include any NOTE songs.
