Straighten Out - outdoors

Post by Fatbusjim »

The Q Inn in Stalybridge isn't the biggest pub in the world so the decision was made to play the gig outdoors, in the hope the weather would clear. Well it did - for probably half the set, then the heavens opened again and it pissed down for the rest of the night.

Still a really enjoyable night though, these lads are going to get better with each gig.

Nice Gazebo Mick

First time we checked you guys out, although do remember Shaggy n Mick from prior gigs...

Remembering Hugh's line from a Reading festival some years back, "Well, It hasn't rained has it ?! Bloody Great !!"

Started things off nicely as 'Wog'was first up, shaking up Staly-Vegas before the niteclubbers has got their gladrags on !

We counted about 21 tunes which raced thru most of Rattus & No More Heroes, together with a very menacing 'Threatened', then Toiler, Tank n Sleazy (together with added attractions !) from Black & White. A creditable Walk on By, Raven, then to wrap things up, as the rained poured down, Sewer to finish !

Well pleased when all the band & crew stuck around for a few bevvys before heading back over the hills....

See you again soon..........

Well got a real feeling of dejas-vous at this one, talk about history repeating itself. Only difference was it started the deluge about half an hour before gig time and cleared up half way through. Unfortunately there was no Gazebo for Mick the keyboard this time. So a temporary shelter was fashioned from part of the beer tent, some sticks and bailing twine  Well done lads.

However in spite of the weather and Shaggys dodgy back another storming set from Straighten Out.

Next up Bolton next week - Are We There Yet :?: :?:

Cheers, FBJ. Yes, once again the weather let us down, but it was the wrong side of the Pennines after all.

Seriously, though, the event was very enjoyable and it was nice to convert some of the Polish contingent that turned up to the gig from The Doc's workplace!
