The 11 Greatest Best Ofs, or...

Post by Waffle waitress »

...The 11 Best Greatest Hits.

Ok, there are hit packed, every one a banger albums by The Kinks, or CCR, and then theres all filla, no killas from shite like, erm, The Killers. And l'm pretty sure that there isn't even an official Best of from the likes of ACDC, or even Kraftwerk.

Michael Jackson has almost as many Greatest Hits albums as The Smiths!

Kylie has more Greatest Hits albums (7) than solo Lennon and McCartney combined!

Probably.

Anyhoo, what would you usually recommend as the best Best Of albums you can think of?
And l'm going for 11 of these as l had to drop fine fine hits loaded albums from The Monkees and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, mibee even Some Girl Wander by The Sisters from my list just to get that number down.
So, have a think and remember there's probly points deducted if you include ABBA Gold (joking), Bob Marley Legend (also joking) or anything by The Eagles or Queen (definitely *not* joking).

Also, you'll see that l haven't included any of The Stranglers Hits albums, so you can't either, but a bonus question might be what do you reckon is the best MiB Hits album?

Anyhoo, my list, today, might be:

Kinks - The Ultimate Collection
Creedence Clearwater Revival - Chronicle
The Doors - Legacy
Bowie - Legacy
The Beatles - 1
The Smiths - Louder Than Bombs
Neil Young - Greatest Hits
Tom Waits - Beautiful Maladies
New Order - substance
Rammstein - Made In Germany
The Pogues - Just Look Them Straight In The Eye...
Can't see it by satellite, baby, that's cheatin'.

Let me think... ermmm

The Cure - Standing on a Beach
The Beatles - 1967/1970
CCR - More Creedence Gold
Beach Boys - Made in USA
The Fall - 50.000 Fall Fans Can't Be Wrong
The Kinks - The Definitive Collection
The Rolling Stones - Big Hits (High Tide and Green Grass)
Madness - Complete
The Monkees - The A's the B's and the Monkees

If various artists records would count I'd definitely need to mention Tighten Up series, Tamla Motown is Hot and the first Punk and Disorderly LP and loads of cheap Northern Soul cd's.

I did think of the Cure when making today's list. And yeah, single band albums only this time, or l would have had The Harder They Come s/t etc
