Yes, was in the setlist for most of the Ruby tour

Must be frustrating for Baz when they play songs like that and not much from his era

If I remember correctly the idea behind the Ruby tour was to play one song from every album at least so that is why they did Still Life and and Valley.
Most setlists these days have 3 or 4 songs from the Baz era. As an artist that must be a bit underwhelming.

Especially when you've been in the band longer than Hugh

I don't think Baz is that bothered. He knows his place in the band and he's obviously happy with it,still there after 25 years. He joined as guitarist only but now finds himself as singer and frontman. He'll be doing cartwheels and thanking his lucky stars.

Absolutely! Cashing in on nostalgia and a setlist of songs that he had zero involvement with (well apart from the handful of post Hugh era songs). Sit back and count the cash.

Even without the money aspect, some people were just born to perform. Their work, or anyone else's work. If they can keep that going til their 60s, 70s and beyond, good on them. I remember reading an interview and he said he thought he'd be in it for 5 years and how cutthroat the music industry is ... he has had good fortune and I am sure he is clever enough to be grateful for having landed the role as JE's replacement and then as JE and PR's replacement combined and having it go on so long in an industry that could have cut him to pieces after a short time.

This is brill. Seriously, tysm for posting! Baz is not PR and did not do the "fly" parts like PR did but he has such a strong voice and to be able to sing that pace and play the whole piece and do all the twiddley bits and wiggle about also is blooming talent, IMHO. The whole band seemed energized by that song!
North Winds was beautiful also. I wonder who made that video to go along with it? Wow. Doubt they'd play that these days.
What song came after NorthWinds?

Is all this commercial success due to the fact that they were then signed to EMI?
Probably helped them getting some more airplay and press?
I agree I've always thought that the attention they got improved after signing for EMI.
But to be honest ok we're fans so we like and buy their materil but their sort of materil has had it's day in the public domain no matter who they were signed to that's just reality of where we are with the music business a lot has changed since Hugh's departure back '90.

The name will always sell tour tickets at venues people go to see them to hear the old songs and hits but sadly they're,no longer a selling act in today's market, but hey they've had a bloody good run for decades and still notching up the years past the big 5 0 ,ain't bad in anybody's book.

Yes but NC did much better commercially than anything post 10. So Hugh or no Hugh, EMI releasing the cd gave them more impact with the media and in the shops than the 90s albums.

Also, maybe more people were online and internet advertising contributed to the success? Nothing like these days when almost everyone has the internet literally in their fingers or in their pockets at all times but it definitely was a step up from when people only read about upcoming albums and tours in newspapers and magazines.
