The Lines I wouldn't of put it on MOM agreed and if Sisterhood is a great track I would of had that on there' instead of this' lol......rings a bell lol and I'm not talking of a 10 track that got left off either.
Seriously though MOM is a quality album on the whole that you can't knock, the lines I agree that is the albums let down or weak track most albums have em.
For me Down & Lines are the two weakest tracks and had Baz sung Down it could of sounded a better song for as potential goes it's a nice song that needs a different vocal range and tone than what JJ I feel can give to the song.
With their writing nowday's I feel is going in a good and different directiion and songs like Moon, Breathe & Stallion are good strong songs.
I wouldn't phrase any of MOM songs as shit...but that's just my opinion only and I get it with The Lines I don't know how that made the final studio album that should of gone to maybe the like's of say Sisterhood and I haven't heard it yet but it must be better than than track....surely lol and I certainly wouldn't of given it an airing live on stage either.
Let's hear "Sisterhood"

I think The Lines is ok as a short album filler but that's all it is. I also think JJ's vocals could have been better on the album in places. Maybe that was down to lockdown though the way the album was recorded remotely in places I believe? Oh and yes it's a shame Sisterhood didn't make the album but hopefully it will appear on the next album if there is one.

Isn't that more just down to the band though for just a lack of material?
Yeah but like I say quality control needs to be applied.be it the band themselves or a producer someone needs to go "look guys this is shite"

Yes but if Louie had said that we might still be waiting for them to complete Dark Matters!

If they were really working on 500 ideas for years, they had no choice but to work with what they had, it wasnt going to get any better.

The 500 ideas must be just little riffs I guess.

If "The Lines" was one of the 500 ideas I would expect the other 499 to be better... Cringe!!!

just having some ideas is one thing, but writing good quality songs & music is another ballgame I would imagine.

It's quite obvious that for a long time now the band have struggled to get enough songs of sufficient quality to make albums (unlike Hugh).

Reasons for that could be both the continuous touring they've been doing and that JJ & Baz just don't have enough....

Both JJ and Baz can (and have) written good songs, just not enough of them.

Into the equation now comes Toby, so let's see if that makes any difference...

I think with Toby involved now the next album will have a real boogie woogie feel to it!

One song maybe... I think he will bring some Raven synths into it.

Honesty yes... Lines & Down are crud. I think the first time I was surprised at a songs inclusion was 'I Hate You'.
