Bass Cover Bob
Not sure if this guy has been mentioned before, his name may not even be Bob (I thought it may be Jim due to the Google alias), but he seems to be playing along with all the songs. Maybe interesting to some of you

Apparently his name is "Davey" https://www.facebook.com/trog1979 - seems to be looking at JJs job in Team Stranglers when JJ retires.

He's good but I'm sure that's a bum note he keeps playing in Outside Tokyo.
On a related note... how many songs did JJ tune down for.... there's Tokyo and (without checking) I think Laughing from Aural.

They'll ease him in, as JJ starts to struggle playing a full gig. Davey will fill in for the first half, with JJ coming on for the second.ThinkTank wrote: 13 Sep 2024, 08:46pmsl I cant wait for it to happen and it will happenalaninblack wrote: 12 Sep 2024, 23:38 Apparently his name is "Davey" https://www.facebook.com/trog1979 - seems to be looking at JJs job in Team Stranglers when JJ retires.![]()
Eventually JJ will just play 3 or 4 songs in the middle.

Re: Bass Cover Bob
Blimey.....bass players after JJ retires......lol
The band will retire alongside JJ I belive when the great man decides it's time.
The best tribute player playing in the exact style of Jean for me and his keyboard playing too has to be Danny Sapko ....His bass playing sound No.1,finger work and style is the mirror image.
There would be no difference in bass sound if this man was ever on board...
My admiration and full credit goes to this man's tribute playing to Jean that's on youtube, also his double talents on Dave's key work is extraordinary too.
But the bass cover Bob is great too.....hats off to him for his great talents and playing.

Re: Bass Cover Bob
Plays the songs well but that's tone needs a lot of work.
He's fallen down the same trap a lot of people do who do Stranglers bass covers online of making a pigs ear of his sound by attempting to sculpt the early tone of JJ's when it's actually easier than you'd think with the right gear.
As for him replacing JJ? Why not? They've done it with all the other "irreplaceable members".
