Re: Big Country
I read somewhere that a new lead singer is waiting in the wings. I'm kinda done with them tbh. I saw them in all lineups (including the 3 piece which I enjoyed the most post Stuart). The last time I saw them it was pretty lame they even did a raffle half way through the gig (and it wasn't even a meat raffle!)

Re: Big Country
I saw them locally a year or two back and enjoyed the gig, but it wasn't special enough that I'd rush to do it again. I mainly went because I saw them at Reading in 1983 while waiting for The Stranglers to come on, and remembered them being pretty good. Listening to others in the audience it seems that, like The Stranglers, they have fans that follow them around the place, so it'll be interesting to see what happens. Sort of.

Re: Big Country
I've seen them a few times over the last few years at the Stone Valley. Always a good mid afternoon type festival band that I've made a point of watching when they come on..

Yes, it's been announced now that Simon Hough has departed which sounds like it was a surprise to the band. They have a replacement for the shows this year. Not sure after that.theraven1979 wrote: 17 May 2024, 09:11 I read somewhere that a new lead singer is waiting in the wings. I'm kinda done with them tbh. Re: Big Country
I must admit they have never done anything for me.
Re: Big Country
Yeah same, remember going down to see HC when he supported them with his’Wired’ album.
We left before they came on.
Also seen them at Kubix 2019 come to think of it, but never took any notice of them.

Re: Big Country
Such a shame to see once great bands diminish over time. Sounds like they have internal issues. They will not replace Mark B easily. I remember seeing them with Mike Peters and tbh with two original members I was expecting a half-hearted sound. That was not to be and the drums really kept things sounding authentic. He's a powerhouse.theraven1979 wrote: 11 Oct 2024, 21:49 Looks like the drummer has left. That's one original member now. Last time I saw them they were shit anyway

Re: Big Country
Yeah he's a massive loss. Saw them as a 3 piece with Tony singing and I thought they were pretty good like that. Then saw them with Mike Peters and they were alright. He has a similar passion to Stuart. Then saw them with that other guy fronting about 5 years ago. Terrible.markorbit wrote:Such a shame to see once great bands diminish over time.
