China Crisis
I can't be the only person who thinks their Difficult Shapes album sounds like Aural Sculpture in parts. Not saying any band was influenced by the other but they were probably mixing in the same circles at the time
Check out the track "Are We A Worker" some of the music from that wouldn't sound out of place on Aural Sculpture for example.

Re: China Crisis
Haven't listened to this album in ages, but it is one I bought and got into at the time. So perhaps there were some similarities with what Stranglers were doing.. I must give it a listen some time now that I've been reminded of it cheers

Re: China Crisis
The only China Crisis album I'll go anywhere near is Flaunt the Imperfection, and that's because Walter Becker from Steely Dan produced it.

They are still performing but they don't seem to release many albums these days.
Re: China Crisis
Working With Fire and Steel was their peak for me, and I caught them on that tour.
Saw the Flaunt The Imperfection tour too, and the title describes the album well.
Good interview with them on Martyn Ware’s podcast

Although the sound quality on the episode would suggest Becker wasn’t involved this time around

Re: China Crisis
Agreed. A huge part of the appeal of that album for me is the way that it sounds, and I don't think they sounded as good on record before or after.jason wrote: 21 Nov 2022, 19:46Great album that.StanInBlack wrote: 20 Nov 2022, 22:23 The only China Crisis album I'll go anywhere near is Flaunt the Imperfection, and that's because Walter Becker from Steely Dan produced it.

Re: China Crisis
Gotta say the new Greatest Hits with the "cinematic" rework does sound pretty good.

Yes love that track and I agree some of their early tracks have that Aural Sculpture keyboard sound. For example Wishful thinking as well.
