I've just listened to it on Spotify, it's quite good, perhaps a bit better than I was expecting. I probably need a few more listens. I'm not sure about some of the lyrics, though, just a bit ranty in places.

I’ve not had much interest in what Baz, Paul, John etc have done outside of The Stranglers but what I’ve heard of this Wingmen project I’ve rather enjoyed and I like Paul Grays bass lines. They are playing not far from me in Leeds so I might pop along to see em if ticket prices aren’t too pricey.

Paul Gray’s bass playing is fantastic the more I listen to the songs the more I’m picking out the bass lines running all over the place. Very Entwhistle. There are a couple of ‘ranty’ ones but there are some really good catchy tunes in there and good playing by all. I’m really liking it.

This is a real grower for me. Enjoying it more with every listen...quite a surprise!

I can sometimes hear the influence of their individual bands...probably more Damned than anything else. Some

The cd arrived yesterday too!

It is - his playing lifts this album higher - not that impressed with the overall quality of the material. Need to listen a few times more I suppose.

Had my first listen proper today and it's not bad. 2 things stand out

1. Baz's vocals are "at ease" IMO. I think he sounds better vocally when he's not being "Mr Strangler".
2. The keyboardist has deffo been given a "make it sound like Dave Greenfield" brief.

1. Yes, I noticed that too, he sounds and feels more natural,; very good.

2. I just thought they were going for that 60's Hammond organ sound, which is in keeping with the songs, but it sounds great anyway.

According to the CD cover, all the keyboards are by Paul Gray and Baz. I think the Supergrass guy is for live performances only.

Interviewed Baz earlier in the week Re: Wingmen. Article for Pennyback Music coming soon. Will post the link when it's up. Baz was in very good form and excited about the album and forth-coming tour.
