Steve Jones tracks particularly Friggin in the rigging on the Swindle Album were my punk rock introduction, albeit a decade after punk was a current concern

You could argue Dave Greenfield was better than both of them

You’re definitely not wrong
I’ve said elsewhere that Live X Cert is an all time punk classic lp, what it lacks in sound quality, more than makes up for in spirit.

Shame on me I didn't mention Dave, shame he didn't sing more songs, I think if Hugh had stayed, he may have sung a few more, although he did sing God is Good. Lt Kudu.

I thought it was JJ who sung that, I seem to recall it was him when they opened the gigs with it.

I read somewhere it was Dave, an interview in the short lived Stranglers fan club thingy, I may be wrong? Wiki says its Dave singing? Lt Kudu.droopsnoot wrote: ↑22 Dec 2021, 14:16I thought it was JJ who sung that, I seem to recall it was him when they opened the gigs with it.

It's JJ's voice though, so it's probably JJGreatkudu wrote: ↑22 Dec 2021, 19:19I read somewhere it was Dave, an interview in the short lived Stranglers fan club thingy, I may be wrong? Dave's probably doing backing though.

I think it's Dave that I can hear the most prominently.parasiteinblack wrote: ↑22 Dec 2021, 19:55It's JJ's voice though, so it's probably JJGreatkudu wrote: ↑22 Dec 2021, 19:19I read somewhere it was Dave, an interview in the short lived Stranglers fan club thingy, I may be wrong? Yes I think it is Dave, I really like this song, one of the better songs on a mostly Dire album, I'm still mystified how they thought anyone would think this is up to Stranglers standards, says to me how out of touch they were. I think JJ is singing it in a similar style to Things Are Getting Better and putting on a similar voice to the Vladimir stuff.
Would love it to be Dave though, he should have had at least a song on each album imo.

Yeah, that's definitely Dave on "God is Good" to my ears.
