Nobody has ever asked me that question.I find that whilst people have heard of the Stranglers most of them couldn't name a band member.By and large nobody knows who Hugh Cornwell is or was.JJ too.

A couple of weeks ago when I was spending Saturday evening at A&E the nurse who finally treated me after 6 hours waiting was under the impression that Hugh had rejoined the stranglers. I enlightened him of past and current members which got him to hurry up.

Oh these people get on my wick, if people really care they can go on Wiki and find out about band, lazy Bastards. Lt Kudu.

You heard it here first, guys. Nurses (who most of the time are so busy that they barely have time for a piss) are "lazy bastards" because they don't go on Wikipedia to find out information about which collection of individuals are claiming to be "The Stranglers" in 2021, a brand name that is now well past its prime. Yeah, I'm sure that's high on their list of priorities.

No I wasn't having a go at nurses, it was a general comment about people who ask inane questions about the band, when they could find it out in 30 seconds on Wiki, it could be a soldier, a sailor or a candlestick maker for all I care, I make the effort to research about bands lineups. But people who just have a casual interest in music wouldn't care who is in the Stranglers or any other band, and I'm not shouting at the clouds tonight, but watching repeats of Benny Hill. Lt Kudu.

I suspect what you've run into is someone doing their best to make casual conversation with you, without any time to prepare for your specialist subject. I have a mate I run into sometimes in the pub that asks me similar questions that he could have looked up instead of waiting all week to ask me, but it's just something to talk about.

I do know of a character on a LUFC site who purports to being a doctor , yet seems to spend the majority of his time commenting on all things LUFC , surely there is more important stuff than that . Mind you he does come across as a complete know it all arsehole .Like you say , they have a lot in their hands so I can't see a nurse being interested in the career of Hugh Cornwell right now , or LUFC ......even more so after the Man City debacle

Doctors dont want to do out of hours home visits now, as they say they don't get paid enough? Really thought It wasn't all about the money? The NHS is a sacred cow that has dire faults in the way its managed. Dr Kudu at your service any time anywhere.

I think this current line up which have started fantastic out in France with a really good set have been tremendous live again.
I feel the newer boys in the last ten years which is now 50% of the band are really helping to continue on the sound of the stranglers,i have no complaints on the sound front and i think back in the UK tour time they are going to get such a great reception after such a long time now without playing to their fans....keep supporting the new line up they need positive support and by the looks of things in France especially with Toby being the new member as Jim's well settled in after nearly ten years now, it's great that it's been all very positive for them out in France and i'm guessing they must be very happy with how it's all going and turning out and i bet they can't wait to play again in the UK.

My days have sadly come to an end with the Stranglers on the gig front after decades and decades following them around, but still 40 odd years on i still solidly support them and have really enjoyed DM where Dave i think has gone out on a high for sure.
