Supermarket jars of curry cooking sauces.

Post by PaulinLondon »

I think the Lloyd Grossman brand is excellent but it's a shame that the jars are quite small. I normally add a couple of fresh chopped tomatoes to add to the sauce.

The new Madras one from Sharwoods is very good. Tried it two nights ago.

Pataks is also good but on recent experiments, the Bhuna one and the Madras one taste exactly the same.

Thoughts ?

I’ve used Pataks tikka masala paste pots for me and Mrs Boody - she has chicken and I do veggie for myself. I add yoghurt instead of cream. Pretty good but nowhere near my local Indian restaurant, which is top notch.

Don't use supermarket sauces myself , I make a base sauce I can use for any curry then add appropriate spices and herbs etc . I use a YouTube channel ( Al's kitchen ) for recipes and if you follow instructions these come out to near restaurant taste , obviously they probably use better ingredients is fresh spice as opposed to jars I use .
If I do Chinese curry I use Mayflower powdered curry and again this is far more authentic than supermarket jarred sauces , tastes just like a takeaway Chinese curry , add your own stuff .
All quiet ..........
