That would be three saps led by a guy named Moe. The Stooges 3 always do it for me. I try to take in a two-reeler daily, like vitamins. Their output wasn't art, but where else could you witness a gorilla firing a machine gun?

I consider them to be comedic absurdists, but Moe Howard deemed them "ambassadors of boorishness," hellbent on "the upsetting of dignity." Kinda punk, really. Iggy Pop named the Stooges after 'em.

Two programmes stand head and shoulders above all else in the comedy stakes at the moment...Curb Your Enthusiasm and The Thick Of It. Both are just amazing and are from that rich seam of embarrassment comedy that means at times you can onky watch them from behind the sofa.

Genius - the pair of them.

Bit of a dark horse in the comedy stakes though...has anyone seen Modern Family yet, the new Sky One show. It has all the makings of being a very good American character-based sitcom and is very sharply written. One to keep an eye on...
They'll be called the survivors..you know why?....cos they're gonna survive

Just watched the Extras Special, absolutely top notch.
"They don’t come much better than The Stranglers when performing live; there is no pretence, no hiding place, just superb music"

Marx Brothers. Alway s loved them always will. Groucho's one liners, Chico's sleaze factor and Harpo's clowning. Oh and Zeppo's.......... well....

Mark Dolan.

I really like his interview techniques and the way he looks at some of his interviewee's (especially some of the crazy Yanks he interviews)
It's like he's thinking "C'mon admit it, you know you are a bit of a silly cunt aren't you?"

Saw Daniel Kitson at The Roundhouse, Saturday night as part of his three week residency. Very funny, and tickets were a bargain £12.

Stewart Lee.

I watched his live show on TV last night.
Managed to sit through the whole 2 hours, I’ve seen the 30 minute shows he did on TV a year or two ago and I really liked em but this I thought was a bit excruciating at times but then at other times I thought, this fella is actually quite a comedy genius and he totally cracked me up.
Any thoughts on him?

I like Stuart Lee, he always makes me laugh. I love the fake outrage about stuff you know he doesn't care that much about.

But I can see how some would find him a bit laboured and repetitive. And he constantly paints himself as an outsider with no influence when he must be one of the better paid comedians around.

It's a shame that the BBC cancelled the Comedy Vehicle, because he just doesn't suit the panel shows that dominate at the moment. He needs to be on TV more.

Also, have you seen the photos of him and Julian Cope visiting stone circles together? Stewart's dressed for the weather, Julian is dressed as, well "Julian Cope".
