Re: Another Newbie
To Sinister,
Thanks , I was watching a music documentary last year , BBC4's Music Mogul's , and Hugh and JJ were on talking about the band . I hadn't heard or thought about the Stranglers since Hugh quit , apart from hearing their first demos with the Mark 2 line up . I did have the occasional dream about being at Stranglers gigs though . By 1990 I was a very different person than the one who fell in love with the band in the late 70's and the band were very different from those days too.
So when I saw them being interviewed on TV, I immediately went to youtube and have been watching and listening to everything Stranglers related on a daily basis since . It has been a nostalgic trip and it still feels raw when Hugh's departure is discussed but with hindsight it was for the best for everyone .
It's been a joy to find so much online material about the band and my favourite viewing has been the Rockstage gig . I first saw them around that time and it was the tightest and most menacing performance I have ever seen. I have listened to Norfolk Coast and do enjoy their recent material. It's wonderful that they are still producing such fine music and also being recognised critically for it too.
Thanks to everyone for welcoming me here.

The next time they are in Scotland I am going to go see them again. One of the teenage memories I want to recreate is the process of buying tickets and the anticipation of a Stranglers gig. When I was young I used to love getting up at 4 in the morning to go to the Edinburgh Playhouse box office. It was a great way to meet other fans . It's a pity the internet has stopped all that.

Hi luvlylaura Glasgow concerts are always fun. Aberdeen and Dunfermline were great as well this year.luvlylaura wrote:The next time they are in Scotland I am going to go see them again. Just as I am thinking about seeing the Stranglers again they announce a tour. That's another of my three wishes gone but I shall be going to see them next March in Glasgow ,health permitting . I can't wait , since I got interested in the band again I have spent my days listening and watching every bit of Stranglers footage I can .
