THE DAMNED - DONT THEY WISH THAT WE WERE DEAD

Post by vanian »

This got released last thursday and its a really good documentary - its clear that the issues between Brian & Rat on one side and capt on the other side just are not ever going to be resolved and it was very sad & very poignant in places -

watching Brian and Rat do a gig together with Texas terri in some dump in France was just horrible - its clear that Capt is the heart of the group and DV very much the soul of it and it was really interesting watching them interact with each other - its clear both would like a) more money and b) more recognition and its also clear that Rat is very very bitter about a lot of things but thats what happens when you go for cash - ethics go out the window i suppose.

anyway very worthwhile buying imo

Blame can be apportioned on both sides. Money and egos often clash.
Personally their 'differences' are none of my business.
We all know about these things don't we Stranglers fans.

This documentary is excellent as far as it goes but you'd need at least two more to cover in depth the whole 40 years.
It's more about the very early days and was made by Wes Orshoski who wasn't even particularly familiar with The Damned until he made the Lemmy documentary and Lemmy sang their praises. Now he's a fan.

At least somebody bothered to make one. And Wes, an American, did it all with his own money and no support so credit for that as well. No British film maker ever bothered.

The Blu-ray/DVD also has extra material which we weren't sure we were going to get. Looking forward to watching that.

Mine turned up on my mat Saturday and I found it waiting when I got in from the RAH show. I haven't watched it yet 'cause I saw it at the London Premier and today has already had me listening to the BBC Radio 6 documentary, the radio session they did on Thursday and the full recording of the RAH gig. So tonight I'll stick it on. It's been a Damned fine week....

forgot to mention that JJ pops up in it for a few words as well - i have to say i prefer this to the Lemmy Doc - Lemmy also puts in some kind words and some live bits of him playing with the damned a couple of years ago

That's very true fella... I ordered & received my copy as a 'twin pack' DVD & Blu-Ray: SOS 1754 with extras, from the American distribution company 'MVD Entertainment Group'... Was only $15! when I paid for it
