misheard lyrics

Post by sewer rat »

way back in the 70's and early 80's i had the shittiest record player known to man and it wasn't till years later when i could upgrade, that i realised that i had totally misheard lyrics....here's a few examples....

the song DISORDER on The Exploited's Troops of Tomorrow album...at the start, Wattie shouts...."disorder who gives a fuck 1234!!" up untill about 1985/86, i thought he shouted "alexander haig's a fat wanker!!"

the song DECAPITATED by hardcore band Broken Bones....the chorus goes "she got decapitated, decapitated"....i thought it was "you got the clap baby, the clap baby"

the opening line to The Damned's Ignite is "twilight comes and the mood's complete"....not on my record player....i heard "twilight comes in a ford capri"

does anyone have anything to add to this or were you all born with sony hi-fi's in your mouths

First time I heard 'White Man' by The Clash I swore that instead of singing...

'The British Army is waiting out there. An' it weighs fifteen hundred tons...'

..that Joe actually sang...

'The British Army is waiting out there. An' it waits sitting on it's c**t'.

And listening again today I'm still not sure....

For "Ozymandias" in ugly, I used to think JJ was singing "I demand the arse".
I can't help getting old. I just refuse to grow up.

Lyrics taken from a song titled 'Robbing In The Hood' by punk band called Smega Jetz:

"David Cameron you pig f*****g c***t... David Cameron you stole pensioner's money from their account...
David Cameron you stole benefits from the disabled that's understood!"

The actual lyrics were:

"Robin Hood, Robin Hood riding through the Glenn... Robin Hood, Robin Hood with your band of merry men...
Steal from the rich give to the poor Robin Hood, Robin Hood it's understood!"

Can't for the life of me understand how I misheard those lyrics originally

i saw a copy of a Japanese import cd of Machine Gun Etiquette years ago and their versions of the lyrics were questionable....but the one that sticks in my mind is (not actually a lyric) at the end of smash it up when the posh dude repeats..."nibbled to death by an okapi".....the Japanese actually had this on the lyric booklet...except....they had "nibbled to death buying a coffee"....ahhh ha ha ha ha!!!!
