The 100 year old man who climbed out of the window and walked off. Or something like that. Quite a fun read.

I must re-read that. It was a book that I was set at school and was the only thing I had available to read on the one occasion when my class was put into isolation, an internal exclusion I guess these days. All I remember of that day was the central character in Rogue Male hiding out and myself being quizzed by a nun about why I had "vandalised" my music exam paper (not the reason for the exclusion, what a day...)

Anthem by Ayn Rand

Read this while waiting for the eldest to get out of bed and get ready to out for lunch

Very succinctly written but raised so many questions. Have begun discussing it with my 10 year old because it must have been the basis for the book/film The City of Ember which she is familiar with. She likes to have big discussions.

The Girl On The Train, by Paula Hawkins. First book i've read for ages, and it took ages to finish too. Had to chip away at it, 3 or 4 pages at a time. I like a book/film with an unexpected ending (like the film Twin Town), but i just found it confusing all the way through (though written very well, if that makes sense) but had a fairly poor ending.
Rugby Union is not only the greatest team sport in the world on the field, but without a shadow of a doubt, is the greatest team sport in the world off the field. Nigel Owens.

How To Drive by Ben Collins (formerly the Stig)

You should all feel safer in my car now. However, I would criticise this book for not tackling the issue of how to park in a multi storey car park when you lose all spacial awareness and the roof is so low and all you can see are pillars and...

He also didn't once comment on parking charges.

Just reading "Complicated Game" by Andy Partridge.
A forensic analyis of how 30 of XTC's songs came together.
I would kill for a similar output from the MiB.
I kniw we have Song Stories but Andy felt even with a similar XTC book, there was so much left out.
Hence a level of detail that fans can enjoy.

Frankly which one of us would rather see something from Jet, rather than another gig strolling through the back catalogue, mainly from a singer who left 26 years ago ?

Didn't know about that book, might get it. There's a quite self pitying interview with him in the new Mojo.

He's on the Radcliffe and Maconie show on 6 Music next Tuesday.

On the way to Leeds:
The Hen Who Dreamed She Could Fly by Sun-mi Hwang

On the way from Leeds to Manchester and then back home:
The Passion by Jeanette Winterson

My kind of weekend, a couple of books, a couple of gigs, a bit of a chat with friends, a tiny amount of alcohol and some peace on a variety of trains.
