Killing Joke - Pylon.

Nothing else comes remotely close.

I would agree but that would be foolish. Hardly listened to any completely new stuff and don't go out of my way to check out new bands.

Likewise . I only got Chelsea and KJ , new bands don't interest me - they're as relevant to us as punk was to our parents . I guess good music is good music , but I know what I like and new stuff doesn't enamour me - they say nothing these days , the worry is you have a generation bought up on Olly Murs and Cheryl Cole - not exactly mentally taxing .
Anyway - maybe 2016 I might even manage 3 albums if I'm lucky - I'm guessing one won't be a Stranglers one . Mind you about time another greatest hits emerged

It's disappointing that some of you don't check out any new music - over the last few years alternative/guitar music has come back again in a big way and whilst there IS a lot of dross there's some real gems out there. I spent the bulk of the 90s just listening to old punk bands as there was nothing else happening but over the last 10 years or so this has changed and kids are picking up guitars again.

Just off the top of my head Sauna Youth, Savages, Wolf Alice, PINS, and many more. Commercially on the face of it chart music does suck ass but there's a whole live scene going on that's exciting and producing some quality bands that are worth checking out.

Each to their own mind.

I still buy loads of music, most of which is old stuff. Albums and bands that I didn't pay too much attention to first time round. Or simply filling in the gaps in my collection.

This is what I got for Xmas (as an example)

Penetration - Resolution
The Ruts - Virgin years box set
The Skids - Virgin years box set
Toy Dolls - We're Mad - The Anthology
Hugh Cornwell - The Fall And Rise Of
XTC - Drums & Wires (with blu Ray )
DEVO - Social Fools compilation
Morrisey - Best Of
Squeeze - East Side Story
Stranglers - Ruby Tour DVD

Ain't got time for new bands when there is so much old school stuff to discover. That's not knocking new bands btw, I'm sure there are a lot of great ones out there but you can't listen to everything can you?

Rather enjoyed jumping on the Rezillos bandwagon in 2015. Zero is excellent.

Another one for Pylon, album of the year for me.

Took a little while to like the new PIL album, but have grown to really like it now. Also, like the new Membranes album too.

As for new stuff.

A band from Toronto called Metz released their second album this year, titled Metz II 10 tracks stuffed into about 30 minutes of noise.

Also, a band called Cheatahs had a new album out called Mythologies, with a vague nod to My Bloody Valentine.

Bit surprised about the love for the New Order album, other than the track that Iggy Pop sings, found the rest of it to be pretty ordinary. :?
