Re: Most Overated band ever.
I love the Beatles! First album I had regular access to was The White Album which is pretty cool and very influential (Siouxsie etc)...
But it's probably an age thing! I grew up with them so their music was always playing somewhere or other.
I can understand them not appealing so much today with so much diverse music available.
Agreed with Coldplay and U2, I'd be tempted to put Radiohead on the overrated pile too!

I love the Beatles, they are in my top 5 all time bands. For me, the White Album which I got when I was 11 is one of the albums I always return to. Unlike Bob I quite like the early Lennon solo stuffw he did with Phil Spector but I' m not too keen on a lot of McCartney and Ringo solo stuff. George did some good ones too and I must say that Pauls Wings over America which I listened to the other day (just rereleased) is pretty good too.
On topic, ah the list is endlesss but:
U2
Queen
Dire Straits
and
Genesis
come to mind although all of them have made the odd tune I enjoy

Yeah I am not sure about The Beatles being over rated, they did some dull stuff, but a fair amount of classics, and I think it's no exaggeration to say without The Beatles we might not be having this conversation.
As for Overrated well as others rightly say Coldplay, Oasis are totally over rated, Led Zepp are pretty over rated imo. I'd like to add nirvana, nothing against them they were Ok, but anything but original and while we are at it Foo Fighters, totally bore the shit out of me. There's a lot of over rated punk bands UK Subs and Cocksparrer will do for a start

Agreed I like Georges solo stuff and some of Lennon's (although, would he be so hot if he weren't dead? )evonx wrote:I love the Beatles, they are in my top 5 all time bands. Paul's stuff has been a bit Schmaltzy but he's had some great moments too. Plus the mushy stuff and his knack for melody really helped make some of the later beatles stuff - Abbey Rd for example.
Not forgetting his ballsy little-richard-esque rock and roll tonsils!
Ringo is Ringo like Jet he's underrated because his playing style was not flashy...
Thank you very much

The Clash, U2, New Order, Oasis, Blur, Coldplay. I have albums by all these cunts.
Oh the bliss, oh the pleasure caressing your ears.
Re: Most Overated band ever.
I don't think New Order are over rated, maybe a few songs get over played, but not many are always going on about how great they are. Are The Clash over rated, again don't see them as anywhere near as mentioned as the others. I have albums by half of those you mentioned, nothing by Oasis, U2 or Coldplay and hopefully never will.unbroken69 wrote:The Clash, U2, New Order, Oasis, Blur, Coldplay.
