Re: Carlisle
Informed by a certain Mr Carne that the whole place is a shit-hole.
Never been myself so couldn't profer an opinion.
Going, but driving back afterwards so will be soft drinks only.

Re: Carlisle
I've been there once before for an all-seater gig. It's your typical multi-purpose hall. Pretty soul-less but the acoustics were okay though it was an acoustic gig rather than a rock gig. Plenty of parking in front of the venue but steer clear of the town centre as the one-way system is a nightmare. Best to come off the M6 at J43 rather than 42.
Pubs - I've no idea if it's any good but there one called the Turf Tavern across the car park from the venue.
My ticket has 7:30 start time on it but stranglers.net doesn't list it as an early gig. I'll give the venue a phone on the day. It's not the sort of place you really want to be hanging around for ages waiting for the bands to come on.
Is anyone else traveling up from the Lancaster area?

Re: Carlisle
Which hotel are you staying at mctownie? I'm in two minds about whether to drive back down the M6 after the gig or stay overnight in Carlisle. It could get a bit dodgy south of Penrith if there's snow n ice. This is assuming that the band make it up to Cumbria themselves... not that I'm being pessimistic or anything.
Someone needs to sort this shitty weather out.
