New Order

Post by Hugh in Black »

Any Stranglers New Order fans out there? Saw them on Thursday at the Apollo. They were pretty good even without Peter Hook.

Here's a review I penned for John "Stranglers fan" Robb's Louder Than War e-zine:

I'd have missed it anyway due to work, but £40+ without Hooky would have been a big NO from me.
I wouldn't pay that to see the Stranglers

Don't they know there's a recession on?

I was there on Thursday too, thought it was a great gig. Lucky enough to be a fan of theirs right from the off, probably like a lot of people I got into Joy Div with LWTUA single, after Curtis had died. Like with most Stranglers gigs, for me it's more than just a gig when I see N.O. I felt the same about Hooky leaving though, it didn't feel right, but to balance that, as long as the singer is the same, that's what matters most to me.

I bet Friday at Manc Apollo was bouncing :D

It can't be the same without Hooky. Who would want to follow a band without the original line up? It's beyond me!

New Order without Peter Hook ? Sounds to me like Stranglers without JJ... :smt017

Hookey is well fucked off though ain't he? He claimed their bassist was miming to his bass recordings recently.

I quite like New Order but they are a bit bland aren't they. I always seem to skip their songs on my ipod!
