To clarify my 'this' comment... I believe it's fairly clear these mandaric payments to redknapp were money laundering plain & simple. Tax evasion is the least of it. As were the ludicrous mid-season salary hikes redknapp got while at Portsmouth. When you read the timing of it, its like mandaric was desperate to get rid of his cash. Hence his 'gifts' to 'Arry. There is quite a bit of amateur sleuthing on money laundering in football out on t'web, worth a few minutes digging if you have the time. I'm a footy fan, so it doesn't make pleasant reading.
As to redknapp getting off, unbelievable. He didn't declare the payments, didn't pay tax on 'em. How is he not guilty? In my view, the ruling 'elite' aren't even bothering to hide their corruption anymore.
