Straighten Out - Hope & Anchor 18th June 2011

Post by Fatbusjim »

No apologies for yet another Straighten Out at The Hope and Anchor thread, but I feel this gig is worth a thread of it's own.

When Shaggy first gave me the dates for this years gigs, the first date I looked for was May 21st which is Mrs.Fatbus's 50th and we are planning quite a big family shindig on the day. Imagine my shock, horror and disapointment when I realise that the band were booked for the H&A that very day. Fookin hell I was going to have to miss the wifes do :? :smt010

Well actually I soon got put right on that :smt010 :smt010 there was to be no Hope and Anchor for me this year :smt009 :smt009

However I have just received news from the band that the gig has been moved just to accomodate FBJ

Not really, but the gig has been brought forward a week to:

Saturday 14th May

The first gig the band played at the venue was an absolute classic and packed to the rafters and is still fondly remembered by those who where there (apart from Mr & Mrs Leskei  ). Although the return to H&A failed to live up to that first Islington gig, Straighten Out are now hoping to push on and make this one as good as that Hope & Anchor debut.

Now that Casey is back in the fold with stalwarts Shaggy and Mick, and with Phil playing a lot closer to home this has the makings of a night not to be missed.

I believe negotiations are under way to have a proffesional DVD made of the evening. Hopefully people at the gig will get a mention on the DVD notes in the style of The Stranglers at the Apollo disc. Watch this thread for more info as it becomes available.

Lets Fookin 'Ave This One!!

Bit more info from the SO website:

Straighten Out - the DVD...live at the Hope & Anchor...Straighten Out's gig at the legendary 'Hope & Anchor' venue in Islington, London (now 14th May, note change of date from 21st) is to be recorded by a professional film crew and subsequently released on DVD for your delectation...! Using film and TV industry standard pro equipment [Sony ProHDZ5 camera with pro shotgun mics for clear audio] the results will be of the highest quality...!
And in appreciation of those who attend the gig, your name will be taken (with your approval!) and featured on the DVD sleeve (in the mode of The Stranglers' Hammersmith Apollo gig last year...) plus you will be able to purchase the DVD for half price...

Good Evening Fatbus.

That was indeed a fine day.

I don't think there will ever be a picture again where one sees a MiB, "Getting on Down".
