Re: Stranglers Tribute Weekend
I had a dirty weekend in York once (didn't involve the Viking museum with its genuine Viking smells however). It was great. York, that is. Not the weekend. Although it was.

York makes the most sense.

I am now aware that might sound quite tacky. But it was with my now-fiance with whom I now have a beautiful daughter so it all turned out quite romantic, like.Kathinboots wrote:I had a dirty weekend in York once (didn't involve the Viking museum with its genuine Viking smells however). I would love to but I'm far too discreet. (Wouldn't want to excite the older forum gentlemen too much. They couldn't take itgizzard wrote:Can you tell us in more detail Kath.Kathinboots wrote:I am now aware that might sound quite tacky. Re: Stranglers Tribute Weekend
hi, like the sound of a tribute bash . i dont think it costs that much, my mates have a tribute band and have played the likes of newcastle city hall, newcastle carling accadamy and the newcastle tyne theatre to mention a few. i think they just pick a date, pay a downpayment for the use of the venue, then sell as many tickets to cover this, whats left over pays for sound nd lighting and if anything is left from that ,gets split between the band, normally a fiver a ticket for them .if this was to go ahead this cost would rise because you would have to pay the bands(lets say 3 bands at £300 to £500) plus the cost of the venue (£1000) then lightin nd sound costs(around 500for both). you may get some bands to play for less money as the prestige of playing in such a venue and depending whos on the bill will surfice .get baz to top the bill with one of his other bands ie the sun devils(would have to get them back together) or robot elvis...or even a solo spot....good luck

Re: Stranglers Tribute Weekend
Sorry I missed this post TheSewerx2, I think it's a great idea - but hard to organize by the looks of it.
Wouldn't it be worth looking into the new Convention idea alongside, or is that a silly idea?
But I'd be up for it, as long as it's a) York or b) near York

Think I'll go for a stroll in the trees.
