Great lines from movies
I saw the film In Bruges for the first time on Saturday on DVD and I loved it. For those who haven't seen it, it is a very, very black comedy which is hilarious at times and in which Colin Farrel is outstanding. It also incdues what I think must be one of the best lines in modern day cinema where Farrel's character says...
'You can't give horse tranquiliser to a midget'.
Any film with an in context line like that simply must be taken seriously in my book!
Anyone top that line?

From Gladiator-
'I am Maximus Decimus Meriduis, commander of the armies of the north, General of the Felix Legion, loyal servant to the true emporer Marcuc Arelius. Father to a Murdered son, husband to a murdered wife, and I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next.'

Here's mine.... from Spinal Tap:
David St. Hubbins: I do not, for one, think that the problem was that the band was down. I think that the problem *may* have been, that there was a Stonehenge monument on the stage that was in danger of being *crushed* by a *dwarf*. Alright? That tended to understate the hugeness of the object.
Ian Faith: I really think you're just making much too big a thing out of it.
Derek Smalls: Making a big thing out of it would have been a good idea.

Re: Great lines from movies
I love Woody Allen (even though his recent output has been patchy at best) and my fave comedy of his is the under-rated Love and Death.
It is full of great lines - he gets shot at one point, looks down at his bleeding arm and says 'blood - that is supposed to be on the inside!' - but my fave is after he has had spectacular sex with a gorgeous Countess and she asks him how he became such a wonderful lover. His reply?
'Well, I practise a lot on my own'.
Classic.
