New cover of 'Golden Brown' released

Post by hisskiss »

Hi All,

New here...although I've been reading the posts for months (true). Been a huge fan since 1984...when I was, er, 9. Favourite album 'La Folie'. I even had a letter published in Strangled (it was the best day of my life at the time). At the risk of being shot down with my very first post, my band Cult With No Name have included a cover of 'Golden Brown' on our new album, 'Careful What You Wish For'. I did a little youtube vid for it, which doesn't take itself as seriously as it looks. Let me know what you think of the version (be gentle, though).

For more info on us visit http://www.myspace.com/cwwn (yes the gig on Friday is you think it is, another thing I might get shot down for).
Album info is here http://www.amazon.com/Careful-What-Wish ... 711&sr=1-2

Cheers,

Erik.

Welcome aboard mate.

That was a good version, a bit different from the original which is
the point of a good cover, I think.

Still, I see you'ze struggled a bit with the guitar solo.
Never mind, it happens to be best of us

Nah, that was a pretty cool version that, nice one. 8)

Very nice. For a second I was transported back to the first time I heard the song live.

Thanks for the encouraging comments! Yeah, can never get that guitar solo right. You hum it and I'll play it. Mind you, 'a manicled Paul Roberts'? Ouch, that hurt.

An overnight thought Erik.

What about having a crack at "Midnight Summer Dream" ?

It would work. Get someone to play the echo bass section on an acoustic bass. It would sound great. If you didn't want to segue into "European Female" you could fade out the song with the echo bass.

Definitely. I wasn't being sarcastic, might give it a go. Plenty of Stranglers songs I'd love to cover. By the way, if anyone's interested, we attempted something in the Greenfield stylee on a track called 'Down the Line' on our myspace.

Cheers,

E.
