Extensive Vinyl Collection
Major Stranglers fan wanting to pass on the mantle.
All material kept in meticulous order, rarely played, boxed and sleeved.
Extensive vinyl collection of LPs, 12" and 7" including picture.shaped and coloured discs (12" and 7") spanning back to the start.
Includes Burnel & Greenfield Fire & Water; JJ Burnel picture disc Euroman (never played); Cornwell Nosferatu; Sverige (signed by the original lineup!), Nuclear Device (again, signed by the band), iconic tour poster from way back.
No new stuff here.
No idea how much it's worth so am open to offers.
Any takers? For sale individually or as a job lot.
Location: Glasgow.

Re: Extensive Vinyl Collection
Never played most of the stuff I collected; kept it sealed, but then bought playable copies too and wore them out.
That's a true OCD collector for you.

Re: Extensive Vinyl Collection
You'd be better off joining the Stranglers Memorabilia FB. Those guys really know their acetates from their solid centres! From what you've listed it sounds like a nice collection but the real money seems to be in esoteric imports, demos, mis-pressings etc. Signed stuff isn't that rare really. The poster (if early/interesting/original), however, does sound interesting - some of these seem to attract high prices.
I'll even let you drive my motorbike . . .

Re: Extensive Vinyl Collection
Just had another look through the collection again and there is a number of 7" Japanese imports in there. Also a massive A0 poster for the single Thrown Away.
Am amazed I have kept these things in such good condition for so long. The concert poster is from when they played the Apollo in Glasgow in Feb 1980.
Fantastic memories!

Re: Extensive Vinyl Collection
Stranglers did not play the Glasgow Apollo in February 1980 , they played on 18 of July 1980 , Glasgow fair friday.
They played in the month of February in 1981, 1983 and 1985.

Re: Extensive Vinyl Collection
Could be a very rare poster then.

Re: Extensive Vinyl Collection
The poster's not got the year on it (none of them ever do which is so annoying!), just the month and date.
I made an assumption, sorry, but thanks for putting me right.
Have just compiled a spreadsheet of the full collection. Didn't realise I had so many 7" singles; they don't look that many in the box.
Is there anywhere I can post it for folk to give me an idea of the value?
Thanks for your help.
