Full marks to Owen for arranging a fabulous Wonky Bus III. Roll on the next one is all I can say.

There is that certain "magic" about seeing The Stranglers abroad and that certain magic was there in spades yet again. It is very difficult to define what it actually is. Your favourite band, the foreign settings, the friendship of like minded fans and I suppose, the excitement of the occasion as you fight lack of sleep and the need to press on as a hunting pack.

Highlights were the fine Italian meal pre-concert in Leuven, the coffee liquor on the coach  and the very good rose wine in the Utrecht hotel.

The band were on fine form for both concerts and both venues helped compliment two fine shows. The locals really seemed to enjoy each show.

Got back home late Saturday morning after treating myself to a huge coffee and bacon sandwich off Tottenham Court Road and then went straight to bed for about four hours. Quite a major anti-climax after two memorable days on the road, tracking down The MeninBlack. I was very keen to go out for a curry last night with Mrs. PiL but her words, "You look like Death" were the turning point so a take away it was instead. Chicken tikka, a separate bowl of madras sauce, bombay aloo, tomato bhaji ( ) mushroom bhaji, mixed vegetable curry, mutter panneer, one naan, one onion salad, two mint sauce and one lime pickle. All washed down with a nice £4.99 bottle of red from Sainsburys.

Lasting thoughts of the trip :

The fantastic cameraderie amongst Stranglers fans. It is quite unique.

Talking complete bollocks with Gizzard, ThrubeingCool, Adrian and Gunta the night before the trip. We got through eight and a half bottles by the way, not eight.

The good sense of humour of our two coach drivers.

Owen and his faithful pair of shorts.

As I said above, the extraordinary coffee liquor on the coach between Calais and Utrecht and the next day, between Utrecht and Leuven.

The nice member of staff at the Utrecht hotel for letting me have some cheese from the kitchen fridge and some bread after breakfast had already closed.

And there we are. Just some personal moments from a fine trip across the Lowlands.

Three photos :

Waiting to board the ferry at Dover, stood next to our Mothership.

Well done Owen. It was a classy, 5 Star excursion.

Roll on Wonky Bus IV.
