Educated nonsense? gad sir, uneducated old bollocks is more the spirit of the thing I'd say, but if such a thing is to be looked forward to then I shall not stray from the task before me!

Don't socks wear out quickly these days? Anybody else find that? I get through loads of socks, good socks mind you, non of those shoddy efforts that johnny Foriegner wears, good socks from a proper shop.
I must throw away a pair a week. Its a constant worry to me you know.

Have you tried turning them inside out, and wearing them the so called "wrong" way around?

Sustains the shelf-life of my socks a thousandfold, I'm guessing.
