Coldplay Are....
Your votes please.
If Dave was to use a Hammond L100 for just one more gig I'd die content.

I was gonna vote but couldn't find the 'Cold Play aren't bad' option!
They're only getting slagged here because they are so massive!
If no one was buying their records then they would be regarded as a quite credible 'indie' band. Come on, they're as good/bad as any of the stadium bands around at the moment.
Oasis, Manic Street Preachers, Stereophonics, Radiohead, Foo Fighters, The Killers etc. All these are over-rated imho but still get massive media attention & radioplay. All them produce the odd shit hot song now & again as well.
The above goes for Coldplay as well. Listen to 'Amsterdam'. Excellent track. For starters. And their cover of 'Motorhead' - "remember me now!Motorhead!Yeah,yeah!yeah!yeah!.."

After careful consideration I can say that, yes, they are shite. They annoy me in so many ways - he's a twat who has no sense of humour in any shape or form, each time I read/hear an interview it's bland 'I'm great me' bollocks. But let's step outside of the personality box. 3 lps and they all sound the same yet they peddle it as ground breaking, citing bands such as Kraftwerk and Can as influences - more like Bread and Elton John.
The press are blinded by hype - no change there then.
People who like them tend to be the sort who don't really like music but buy the CD so they can talk about "the new Coldplay CD" at dinner parties and in cocktail bars. The type who go to gigs and wave their expensive phones around - not to capture heroes in action or even to bootleg but to PROVE THAT THEY STILL GO TO GIGS. Even if they are orgies of complancy.
Utter cobblers. But it's just an opinion.

if your breasts are too big you'll fall over. Unless, of course, you wear a rucksack.

They can obviously play their instruments but hey: so can half my street. I'm not into bashing muso's for the sake of it but it's the nauseous nature of their sound that grates with me.
I like music to escape, recharge my batteries and save my soul.
Music for me is about washing away the dreary reality of everyday life, not embellishing it with wishy washy shoe-shine music. This is to me precisely what I hear when I hear Coldplays music. We all know what a meloncholic old world it can be but when artists start celebrating this without deviation or cathartic catalysm (<--a new word!) then I get the hump.
The general vibe I get about this band is boring despondancy and that's boring despondancy without the kick up the arse you got from the likes of say, The Doors who could be hard work at times but at least had a brilliant psychedelic edge to give you the escape you need in life.
And they use too much reverb, or is that just the resonance of the stadium?
No. They just fucking bore me. And I've given them far more time than I wanted to so it's goodnight from me.
