great album. "Shouting Street" is probably my favourite track.

Yes entirely agree. I always loved these early Simple Minds albums. They are classic albums and I still play them occasionally.MiB81 wrote:My thoughts exactly, love the instrumental stuff; the moody keyboards and Derek Forbes' inventive bass playing on these earlier albums and yeah, anything after NGD was dross to these lug'oles.StanInBlack wrote: ↑14 Mar 2021, 13:39Love early Simple Minds, particularly this one as well as Empires & Dance and Reel to Real Cacophony. They were never the same after New Gold Dream, and I still can't listen to anything from Sparkle in the Rain onwards.
Then we got to the "U2 and Simple Minds era". Oh dear...
I Hate You !

Agree with all of this, they made some great music from Reel to Real up until New Gold Dream - diminishing returns afterwards though.aldinblack wrote: ↑03 Apr 2021, 19:43Yes entirely agree. This album reminds me of Mark Two Stranglers. I really recommend it.

I just listened to the latest Jean Michel Jarre album "Amazonia".
Very ambient and spacey, was listening on headphones and now I feel like I've been on holiday... Interesting stuff.

As with most things you say mate, I totally disagree, I always found the All Wrapped Up burd very fanciable.Arthur Streeb-Greebling wrote: ↑17 Apr 2021, 18:32Kin hell, nearly as bad as The Stranglers Collection LP cover. At least she was quite fit on the Collection cover and not covered in Sausages and other various meats though.
Not so much the meat based haute couture, mind.
