Yeah, I have more time for McCartney than most but his voice is utterly shot to pieces now and the new one is probably his worst since Off the Ground.

Listened to his interview on the Adam Buxton podcast and I thought it was someone taking the piss!

He's bringing out multiple different coloured vinyl limited editions to try to get to number 1 with this album.

Some great tracks on there - not at all shabby for a lockdown lp.
Re: Mc Cartney III
Well, I remember bands in the 80 releasing singles in multi formats all counting for the charts. The Stranglers in their Epic days did the very same. it is kind of cheating yes, but the charts (where physical sales play only a small role these days) aren't saying much anyway these days. He's bringing out multiple different coloured vinyl limited editions to try to get to number 1 with this album.
And he succeeded
It's kind of cheating doing that isn't it.

I recall there was a limit on how many formats counted towards the chart placing, to stop it getting out of hand.

Yes I think it was four.droopsnoot wrote: ↑30 Mar 2021, 09:04 I recall there was a limit on how many formats counted towards the chart placing, to stop it getting out of hand.
I remember Ash had some very successful singles campaigns back in my teenage years, usually 2 CDs and a 7" with a deal on the price in most shops.
7", CD and DVD single for the album after that one, then two 7"s and a CD for the one after that.
You'll notice that the only 2000's Stranglers single which follows this pattern was the only one that went top 40. There should have been another CD format of LBV and Spectre...
