Glastonbury 2019

Post by jason »

Anyone enjoy watching Glastonbury this year? Shame The Damned weren't on TV but I quite enjoyed The Cure.

Nothing grabbed me at all from the BBC's coverage.

Miley Cyrus grabbed me. Well in my dreams she did anyway..

The Cure were excellent and I also enjoyed Sheryl Crow & her band funnily enough...

I saw some of The Cure's set, didn't do much for me but then I don't really know their stuff. The first four or five songs just seemed a bit slow for a festival headline set to me. I caught some of The Killers in the pub on the Saturday night, again I only know the stuff that's been on the radio but it just seemed better for the main act that finishes the night off. Other than that I've seen a few bits and pieces as they happened to be on the TV.

Found Kylie and the Killers quite entertaining but a bit cheesy and thought the Cure were o.k. For me , probably the worst Glastonbury ever.

I have to concur - I dunno maybe I'm getting old (well I am!) but there's usually at least 3 or 4 bands that are worth watching - nothing much for me this year.

The cure was a brave choice. Glastonbury seems to need lots of interaction between the band and the audience and you're never going to get that with Robert Smith.

I enjoyed seeing the audience's reaction to the opener with its (what seems like) 45 min intro. But what's not to love about 'A Forest'?

I watched it with my daughter, and she said 'Do you still like this????'. So the youth weren't Impressed in this house.

I enjoyed billie eilish, and thought the killers were ok but not at their best. I've heard good things about fontaines d c, so need to catch up with their set.

The Cure versus The Stranglers... The first have stated that the latter were a major influence in their early days. And the song "A Forest" was influenced by JJ's bass playing according to Simon Gallup (Cure bass player). "A Forest" versus "Down In The Sewer". :smt006

Forest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uuCHOjglw4 - excellent (though not from Glastonbury)
Sewer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ET_xkIGJVk - more than excellent till the end of time
