How do you discover new bands?

Re: How do you discover new bands?
Another 6 Music listener. I've discovered new bands (Metz) and older bands that I had never heard of (Swans).
To offend, or be offended is purely subjective.

Radio 6 for me too.
The Word magazine was great, but is alas no more.
Not sure about new music but I use this website to find artists I am not so familair with.
It compiles all the Best Of lists
http://www.rocklistmusic.co.uk
Also, can I shout out the The Great Albums podcast, which analyses (funnily enough) the Great Albums - Master Of Puppets through to Like A Virgin !
Once you get past them saying "like" every two seconds, they are a great listen

Mojo & Uncut mags.
Got 3,824 songs ripped from the cover CD’s.
My fave what I’ve discovered from all these cover CD’s other the years is a lot! but the genre known as ‘alt. Country’ is a particular fave. Lots to discover still.

Few years old but interesting subject.
I love live music and will watch anything when out.
When venues open and pubs ( can't wait)
Lucky in Halifax to have the Lantern small venue but has new acts and we'll known.
Also Blind Pig and few other places too

Re: How do you discover new bands?
A few London pubs have free gigs- Shacklewell Arms, Sebright Arms, Old Blue Last and probably others I haven’t found yet. The GigAlert app is great and you can track bands or venues, and has a “people like x also like....” feature. Finally... the Dice app is the best for free gigs - it seems to have lots that the others don’t.
I can't help getting old. I just refuse to grow up.
