Thursday 19/05/2016 Radio 6 - Marc Riley show:
The Damned 'Live in Concert' (2 Hours!) on Radio 6 the Marc Riley show. The Damned live in session from the world famous Maida Vale Studios - Marc is thrilled, delighted and excited all in the same measure to have this iconic band in on their 40th Anniversary.
Though hotly contested by punk historians, many normal people (including Bernie) regard The Damned as the first UK punk band, with their anthem New Rose emerging in October 1976, one month before The Sex Pistols' Anarchy in the UK. After lighting the touch-paper of a musical revolution, The Damned went on to become a UK punk institution working with many of the great and good of rock n roll, not least Chrissy Hynde and Lemmy.
Four decades down the line and The Damned are as strong as ever do not miss this opportunity to catch Captain Sensible, Dave Vanian and the boys live in session.
