They Might Be Giants
Went to see TMBG last Sunday at ABC in Glasgow. What a fantastic live act they are. Witty banter between songs, very tight live, and they seemed to play forever. So many highlights in the set but moments that stand out were Music Jail, Your Racist Friend, Dr Worm and Birdhouse in your soul.
Greetings, fellow Stranglers fans.

Re: They Might Be Giants
I always liked " Istanbul was Constantinople" or summat.
Contains the classic line which goes summat like this....
"Why they changed it, I don't know
That's no ones business but the Turks!"
Please yourselves.

Never bought anything by 'em. Thinking twice about doing so in the future after this post.zontar wrote:Good on them for carrying on. Once bought a double CD comp expecting to luv it, but the tunes left me bored snotless.

I always liked "Birdhouse", but "Istanbul" was a bit to quirky for me. "Birdhouse in your soul" was shown on Saturday morning TV on the same programme as "96 Tears", with various celebs commenting and voting on the various songs. Dawn French loved "96 Tears" and voted it best, saying "I'll expect a cheque in the post from Hugh Cornwell for that". Someone else whose name I've forgotten now mentioned that she didn't like cover versions when they weren't all that different from the originals, and I remember being surprised that she would either know it was a cover, or know what the original sounded like. And at the end, when 96 Tears won the voting, Philip Schofield mentioned the band were back on tour soon, and said "which I for one am quite pleased about".
